Provider Magnitude Comparison 2012

This lists the magnitude values in Mw from various providers of data, latest first, to attempt to show the variability of information output in the first 7 days after the event. The prime provider used is USGS and all other providers are marked in red if their estimate is higher and blue if their estimate is lower. Where a quake has been expressed in mb it will be converted to the approximate Mw equivalent. Where the values are the same the non-USGS values will be in grey. Earthquakes will only appear on this page if at least one or more providers is estimating a magnitude 6.0 Mw or equivalent. † means this is a converted value from the published scale.
